Beliefs

Core Beliefs:

THE SCRIPTURESWe believe the Bible is the Living Word of God, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and is inerrant.  We believe the Bible is completely sufficient and the final authority for all things.

GOD:  There is but one living and true God.  God is holy and perfect and He requires holiness and perfection from us.  Holiness is being set apart from sin and it is something that God alone possesses.  Due to God's perfect nature, there is no one greater than Him; He is the greatest good, and therefore God alone is the standard of what is good.  We believe that God, in His sovereign grace and mercy, regenerates sinful men by the power of the Holy Spirit, not by any action of their own, bringing them to new life. God grants to them the gifts of faith and repentance, which they then exercise by believing in Christ and turning from their sins in love for God.

MAN:  We believe God created man in his own image; that he sinned and thereby incurred physical, spiritual, and eternal death. We believe all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  We believe that man was created in the image of God. Man rebelled against His Creator, and fell into sin. As a result, man became spiritually dead, totally unwilling and indeed incapable of seeking after God. God, from eternity past, having foreordained all things, joined a certain people to Christ Jesus, so that He might redeem them from their sin and in so doing bring glory to Himself.

THE TRINITYWe believe in one true God existing in three distinct persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), each of whom is fully and equally God, all of one essence, and all possessing the same nature, perfection, and attributes.

REGENERATION:  A supernatural work of God where one is made alive in Christ from being dead in their sins and trespasses.  Regeneration is a change of heart brought about by the work of the Holy Spirit through God's gift of grace.

JUSTIFICATION:   Justification is God's act of removing the guilt and penalty of sin while at the same time declaring a sinner righteous through Christ's atoning sacrifice.

SANCTIFICATION:  God's gift of faith results in fruit. These good works flow from true, saving faith; they are a necessary result of faith, but are not to be considered necessary to the gaining of justification, which is by God's grace through faith alone, so that no man can boast

THE JUDGMENTWe believe that Christ is coming again to judge the living and the dead. This promise is found throughout the inspired Scriptures.  Every one shall receive according to his deeds: the wicked shall go into eternal punishment; the righteous, into life eternal.

EVANGELISM & SALVATION

Every ministry effort that Lifted in Faith puts forth is centered around proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. We love people and have a heart for the lost.  It is our utmost desire to see people transformed by the Gospel, become devoted disciples of Jesus Christ, be conformed to His image, and bear fruit.

That being said, we would never take credit for the salvation of any single person. Only God, through the Holy Spirit, can pierce the heart of an individual and save them.  A person responds to the drawing of the Holy Spirit through repentance and faith-turning from sin and believing in the good news of Jesus Christ.  We are simply commanded to share the Gospel.  We are only God’s vessels, and we are overjoyed and humbled to do so.   This is one of the reasons that Lifted in Faith will never boast that a certain number of people were saved at any one particular event.  All glory and honor for conversions belongs to God and God alone.  Another reason we do not report specific numbers in regards to salvation is because only God fully knows who was genuinely saved.  We, as a ministry, cannot look into the hearts of man and know who has been truly converted. Sometimes only seeds are planted.  Sometimes individuals are not ready to make public professions.  Whatever the case may be, we will not completely know the impact of our ministry until we reach heaven.

Unfortunately, we have heard many testimonies of individuals who attended an evangelistic event, “go through the motions” of accepting Christ, and sadly were never genuinely converted.  This is a growing epidemic within our culture.  Our desire is to see true conversion take place through the working of the Holy Spirit.  We consistently proclaim the Gospel and take our time, making every attempt to ensure that an individual clearly understands the message we preach.  We will not simply ask people to raise their hand, repeat a prayer, sign a card, and tell them they are saved.  We will present a clear Gospel message, and provide a time for individual counseling and prayer.  From there, we would then ideally be able to connect this individual to a bible-believing church that can grow and disciple them to be followers of Christ.

Our task is to present a clear and accurate Gospel message from the Scriptures.  Here is what our Gospel presentations will include:

  • Define who God is as creator and author of everything (Genesis 1:1)
  • Explain the nature and attributes of a holy, righteous, and just God (Exodus 34:5-7)
  • The fall and total depravity of man ( Genesis 3, Romans 3:10-18, Romans 3:23)
  • Man has broken God's law and stands condemned before a holy and righteous God (Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23)
  • The reality/warning of hell-eternal separation from God (Revelation 20:15)
  • The substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 5:8)
  • The wrath of God must be satisfied (Romans 1:18-22, Psalm 7:11, Isaiah 26:21, Hebrews 9:22)
  • The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
  • True conversion consists of repentance and faith (Ephesians 2:8-9, Mark 1:15, Act 16:30-31)
  • Count the cost, the true demands of being a disciple and follower of Jesus (Luke 9:23, Luke 14:26-33)
